2009 Lovely December in Tana Toraja
The South Sulawesi Provincial Government is to give more push to Tana Toraja as one of the major tourist destinations in Indonesia, especially as the proud of the province in the tourism sector. Inspired by the succesful tourism program in Bali, the government is to mobilise the 23 districts in South Sulawesi to support the so called Lovely December in 2009 in Tana Toraja.
Head of the South Sulawesi Department of Culture and Tourism, Ama Saing, said in Makassar on Friday (28/11) that during the Lovely December, during 1-29 December 2009, all the 23 districts in the province will participate in the event. They will bring along all their diversed cultural attractions to Tana Toraja for visitors to enjoy. "Every day during the time, there will be attraction for the tourists to enjoy", said Saing.
The attraction includes, for example, the Rambu Solo (the famous funeral ceremony of Tana Toraja), Rambu Tuka (a ceremony for thanking God, also from Toraja) and Masemba (a Torajan traditional martial art). Normally these attractions are presented to the visitors according to the family having the occasion and quite hard to be scheduled by the government. But during the Lovely December the government will organise the event.
Apart from these, there will also be other interesting attraction. This include sightseing the beutiful Torajan landscape, Maiting River Festival, Pagellu Dance Festival, and soon. Makkacaping, a tradisional Buginese music perform using a guitar like instrument and Bissu dance of Pangkajene Kepulauan District will also be presented.
All the above attraction will be presented during the Lovely December in 2009 for the visitor enjoy in one occasion and in one site, Tana Toraja.
